What is Anime? Where do I start?
Below I've listed my personal favorites which I highly recommend you start with. I will put a note next to those that I recall having nudity. I've included their opening songs and a link to their IMDb pages so you can read more about them.
Please Note:
1. The vast majority of animes out there are not good. So you do end up watching a lot of crap in order to sift out the gold. But when you do finally find a great anime it makes everything worth it.
2. Tastes in anime tend to vary a lot between people. So if a friend recommends their favorite anime and you absolutely hate it, you shouldn't give up on it just yet.
3. Animes are originally in Japanese. You can watch them with English subtitles, or you can watch them dubbed in English. Most people, including me, prefer the dubbed versions. I'll include some site links at the bottom.
SAMURAI CHAMPLOO

This is the first anime I ever saw and has remained to be one of my favorites. It's simply amazing. It's rated TV-MA but it's mostly for the language and violence. (There's a couple instances of nudity, but it's rare.) It's an action, adventure, comedy, and I loved every minute of it.

(Note: I have not yet watched the 'Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood' series. I'm referring to the 'Fullmetal Alchemist' series only. I also did not like the movie.)

Berserk on IMDb (Note: This anime does have a couple scenes of nudity. Also, I'm referring to the series. I just recently found out that there is a movie trilogy, the first was already released and the second one is coming out this month. Keep in mind that this series does not finish, but the Manga, [The Japanese comic the show is based on] continues the story. I'm also hoping that the movies continue it as well.) |

FRUITS BASKET
(Note: This is considered a more girly anime. But it has a great story, is hilarious, and guys will like it too; even if they won't admit it. ;)

SHAKUGAN NO SHANA
IMDb doesn't have a page for it :O lol. So I'm linking the entire first episode. FUNimation (the company that dubbed it) has it up on youtube :D
(Note: To some this would be considered a more girly anime also. But it's more like Fullmetal Alchemist with a female lead in my opinion.)

aka Kodomo No Omocha/Child's Toy
(Note: This is probably the most girly anime on my list, but if you don't take it too seriously it's a really funny, feel-good show that most would like. May need to watch a couple episodes to know how you feel.)
It says 2nd Opening but in the English version it's actually the 1st.

Netflix and Hulu also have some anime, though Hulu mainly has subbed, not dubbed. At the time of this post, Netflix has Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist, Samurai 7, and Fruits Basket to stream on Netflix Instant.
When you click the links provided some are automatically dubbed others you need to click 'English Dub' once you click the video. And there are plenty of other sites out there. If you can't find the anime you're looking for make a search like ie: ' Samurai Champloo English Dub Episode 1 ' into Google and sites should come up. :)
